Guanacaste is a privileged destination, due to its fertile land, warm climate, hard-working and thriving people!

iThe agricultural production that comes from its land makes it an ideal place to incorporate new links in its productive chain, paid to the commitment and environmental capacity in the production of energy with renewable sources.

Under this slogan, Azucarera El Viejo, a company that promotes the development of Guanacaste and a leader in sugar production at the national level and in environmental management practices, undertook the task of venturing into the free zone business with the agro-industrial modality.

“Azucarera el Viejo, is recognized for its production of sugar and molasses, but not alcohol. Hence the initiative to create the free zone and install a distillery, with high quality standards, to be able to export and be competitive in the market,” said Alfonso Gómez Jenkins, Executive Vice President of Azucarera El Viejo.

He then added: "The free zone will become a development engine for Guanacaste in economic, environmental and social terms, these three axes will be the pillars of our management."

This business model promotes production chains and boosts competitiveness in the province and in businesses. Foreign investment brings economic dynamism to the country and local neighboring communities; through the purchase of services, such as supplies, transportation, job creation and professional growth opportunities, with training and workshops to integrate neighboring professionals interested in learning about business dynamics and being part of the professional team of some of the companies.
